This delicious lavender milk tea is the perfect hot drink for a cozy winter day. This simple infusion only needs four ingredients. It is calming, soft, warming, and so satisfying to drink. This lavender milk tea is vegan and gluten-free. Let me show you how to make this delicious floral lavender infusion yourself.

Ingredients for making Lavender Milk Tea:

Ingredients for lavender milk tea (lavender, plant-based milk, orange, sugar)
  • Plant-based milk
  • Lavender
  • An organic orange
  • Organic cane sugar

Regarding plant-based milk, I’d recommend using a delicious creamy plant-based milk like oat or cashew milk. Either of the two will taste fantastic for this lavender milk tea recipe.

For the lavender, you must use a culinary lavender. Some dried lavender isn’t food-grade, so I’d recommend buying edible lavender or foraging it yourself. I am using lavender from my home that I’ve dried before. I find it to fit best with the cold seasons of the year, and it’s nice to have some dried lavender on hand when you crave it. If lavender is currently in season, you can use fresh flowers as well.

Additionally, I like to add some orange zest, which pairs nicely with the lavender flavor. I’d recommend using an organic orange if you intend to use the zest. For a fresher flavor, you could also opt for lemon zest.

Lastly, I like to add a little bit of sweetener. The caramel flavor of cane sugar works nicely for this drink. Alternatively, you can try using a bit of maple syrup. This sweetener is optional, and the drink will taste nice as well.

This recipe leaves lots of room for customization. You can also add other fragrant spices. To fit the cozy feeling of this drink, I’d recommend a little sprinkle of nutmeg. Alternatively, vanilla, a clove, star anise, or vanilla make nice additions. You can also add some black tea to give this infusion a kick!

I’d recommend not to add too many other spices. Also, don’t use too much of them, as they can quickly overpower the delicious soft flavor of the lavender.

How to make this Lavender Milk Tea:

Making lavender milk tea is super easy. Give the orange a thorough wash, and cut a strip from its peel. Add the zest, lavender, plant-based milk, and cane sugar to a pot.

Bring the mixture to a light simmer and let it steep for 5-10 minutes, depending on your preferred intensity of the infusion. Don’t let it boil, but keep the temperature low. I like it on the more intense side.

Pour the lavender milk tea through a tea strainer right into your cup, and enjoy while nice and hot.

I’d recommend not garnishing your delicious lavender tea with dried lavender as I did here. Even though it looks nice, it is very annoying while drinking.

I hope you enjoyed this simple lavender milk tea recipe. It’s a perfect drink for winter. Let me know how you like it in the comments below!
