Tahini Stuffed Dates

five tahini stuffed dates in a beautiful bowl, nicely garnished

I have a perfect little dessert snack recipe for you today. Tahini stuffed dates are such a treat. They are super easy and quick to make and only need four ingredients to come together in all their deliciousness. I served them quite a few times after a Middle-Eastern-inspired dinner when the guests were still craving something sweet. These little one-bite desserts are creamy, sweet, nutty, and just delicious.

I love having stuffed dates as a snack, dessert, or party food. Once pitted, they make the perfect vehicle for whatever stuffing you could imagine pairing well with the sweet, caramelly flavor of date. A personal favorite of mine is my old vegan stuffed date recipe, where I made a cream of vegan feta cheese, parsley, and garlic. These bold flavors pair so deliciously with the sweetness. But today, I didn’t want to go the savory route.

  • Optional: Chocolate

The stars of the dish are, of course, the dates. I recommend going for big, soft Medjool dates. Their flavor and texture make them my all-time favorite. They pair perfectly with the earthy, slightly bitter, nutty flavor of high-quality tahini. Alternatively, Mazarati dates work well for this kind of recipe, too. For some crunch, I like to add a piece of walnut to each date. A little sprinkle of cinnamon, and that’s all there is to this delicious treat.

Recipe for Tahini Stuffed Dates:

You can make these tahini-stuffed dates in no time. Firstly, we want to pit the dates before stuffing them with their filling.

To do so, slice them open on one side, and take out each seed. Smear a teaspoon of tahini into each date, and top each of them with some walnut. Finally, finish each date with a pinch of cinnamon. I like to present them like this, but if you plan to take them with you as a snack, you can close them again by pinching them. You can also go dip them in molten chocolate to cover and seal them like this.

And that’s all there is to this delicious, simple recipe. These tahini-stuffed dates are a quick but luxurious snack you or your guest will love.

Also, don’t let this constrain your creativity. There are countless ways to stuff dates, and this is just one of them. The ones with vegan feta cheese are amazing as well. I’m sure you can come up with some even more delicious ideas!
