1. Who We Are
Welcome to Lets Go Tomato! We cook and write about plant-based food that satisfies, and we are a family project dedicated to sharing our passion for delicious vegan food, family-friendly recipes, and overall feel-good meals.
Our website address is: https://www.letsgotomato.com.
This site is operated by our small family team (Tanja, Petr, and Ivo) from Germany. For any questions or requests regarding your personal data and privacy, please contact us at: info@letsgotomato.com.
2.2. What Personal Data We Collect and Why
We believe in transparency and collect only the data necessary to operate and optimize our website, communicate with our readers, and improve our content.
2.1 Comments
When you leave a comment, we collect the data in the comments form (name, email, website), plus your IP address and browser user agent string to prevent spam. We use Akismet for this. An anonymized “hash” of your email is also sent to Gravatar to display your profile picture.
2.2 Newsletter Sign-ups (MailPoet)
When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address and optionally your name with your explicit consent, confirmed via double opt-in. We track engagement (opens/clicks) to improve our content. You can unsubscribe at any time.
2.3 Website Analytics
We use Google Analytics and Jetpack Stats to understand how visitors use our site. This includes anonymized data like your masked IP address and pages visited. For EU/EEA visitors, this is based on your consent via our cookie banner. For others, it is based on our legitimate interest to improve our site.
2.4 Embedded Content (YouTube)
Our posts include embedded YouTube videos. To protect your privacy, we use a “two-click” solution. A placeholder image is shown, and no data is sent to YouTube until you click the placeholder, which signifies your consent to load the video.
2.5 Website Fonts
To ensure privacy and performance, this website hosts all web fonts locally.
2.6 Server Logs & Security
Our web server and security plugin (Wordfence) log IP addresses to maintain security, block malicious traffic, and ensure site performance. This is based on our legitimate interest in protecting our website.
3. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our site uses cookies to function correctly and analyze traffic. When you first visit, our cookie consent banner gives you full control.
You have the right to accept or reject non-essential cookies without affecting your ability to browse our website. Core site functionality will remain available regardless of your choice.
We group our cookies into these categories:
- Functional (Essential): Necessary for the site to work (e.g., saving your consent choice, comment forms). These do not require your consent.
- Analytics: Help us understand site traffic anonymously. These are only loaded with your consent.
- Social Media/Marketing: These are primarily set when you interact with embedded content (like playing a YouTube video) or click a link to a social network. We do not use this data for targeted advertising on our site.
For a detailed, up-to-date list of all cookies, please see our full Cookie Policy: https://letsgotomato.com/cookie-policy-eu/
4. Social Media and External Links
Our website includes links to our profiles on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok. These are simple links, not embedded content (with the exception of YouTube, explained above). When you click one of these links, you leave our site and are subject to the privacy policy of that social media platform.
