One of the best sauces ever is peanut sauce. No doubt. It is so creamy, delicious and flavourful. This peanut sauce is one of my go-to’s if I’m short on time. It is super quick to make, and its use is versatile: It brings so much flavour to so many different dishes. This sauce brings your meal to the next level, no matter if you are making a stir fry, noodles, or rice, or snacking it with spring or summer rolls. Aside from bursting with flavour, this peanut sauce is simple to make and only requires a few ingredients! Let’s jump right in with this peanut sauce recipe.
Ingredients for making Peanut Sauce:
- Peanut butter
- Maple syrup
- Water
- Soy sauce
- Lime
- Red chilli
- Garlic
- Ginger
- Optional: Peanuts
I like to use lots of peanut butter to make this sauce extra creamy and delicious. I used smooth peanut butter for my sauce today, but if you want a bit of crunch, you can choose crunchy peanut butter or even add finely chopped peanuts to your sauce. We will thin this sauce with water. Lastly, the sauce will get a nice, intense, but balanced flavour from chilli, maple syrup, soy sauce, lime, garlic, and ginger.
Peanut Sauce Recipe:
Firstly, let’s get our flavourful ingredients sorted. We want to combine the garlic, chilli and ginger into a fine, punchy puree. I used a pestle and mortar to crush the ingredients into a paste. In case you don’t have a pestle and mortar, you can use a grater instead.
Next, add the soy sauce, lime juice, maple syrup, and ¾ of your spice puree to the peanut butter. Combine well.
Now, you can add little sips of water and whisk it into the sauce. Once your sauce reaches your desired consistency, check and adjust for seasoning.
Depending on your preference, you can make the peanut sauce sweeter by adding additional maple syrup, giving it more tang with lime juice, soy sauce for a saltier umami flavour, or more of your spice paste for flavour and kick!
I’d recommend to rather add too little of these flavourful ingredients at first and working your way up until the peanut sauce is perfect to your liking. The best ratio depends on your preference and the dish you want to use the sauce with!
And that’s all the magic there is to it. I hope you liked this rich and delicious peanut sauce recipe.
